Fenix HM65R Headlamp Batteries
When it comes to batteries, this Fenix headlamp uses a 18650 lithium-ion battery as its primary power option. It is also compatible with CR123A batteries. The battery has a status indicator that allows you to easily view battery level.
Click the switch once to check the battery level with the lamp off. If you switch it again, the flashlight will go off automatically. It can also go off within 3 seconds of no operation.
Here are the different indicator levels:
· 4 lights on - 100% - 81%
· 3 lights on – 80% - 61%
· 2 lights on – 60% - 41%
· 1 light one – 40% - 21%
· 1 light flashes – 20% - 0%
For battery replacement, remove the battery cover (anticlockwise), put in the new battery with the positive side towards the headlamp's head, and then put back the cover.
Fenix HM65R Charging
The headlamp comes with a charging cable. Remove the anti-dust cap and plug the Type-C side of the USB cable into the lamp's charging port. The battery takes around two hours to charge when the light is off.
When charging, you can choose spotlight medium output or floodlight mode. After charging, the light doesn't switch on automatically.
It has a charge indicator that flashes once when the battery is below 20%. One constant on and one flash shows it is between 21%-50%. Two constant on and one flash shows it is between 51%-80%.
Three constant on and one flash show the battery is between 81%-95%. Lastly, four constant on shows the battery is completely charged.
Fenix HM65R Rechargeable Flashlight Operation
It has separate switches for spotlight and floodlight. You can choose mode switching, on/off, output selection, and lockout function on the spotlight mode. The same applies to the floodlight mode.
To switch the lamp on/off, press click and hold any of the switches for half a second. Upon first press, it goes to the Med output level. After that, it remembers the last output you picked.
If you want to switch the mode, click and hold any switch for half a second to get to the desired mode.
You can also choose the desired output in spotlight and floodlight mode. In the spotlight mode upon first use, click the spotlight switch once to move through Med-High-Turbo-Low. After that, it remembers the last output you picked.
In the floodlight mode upon first use, click the floodlight switch once to move through Med-High-Low. After that, it will remember the last output you select.
The headlamp also offers a lockout function. When you switch it off and press any of the two switches, it blinks four times in floodlight mode to indicate it is locked.
When it is locked, and you press any of the two switches simultaneously for about three seconds, it activates with four one-second blinks to Low on floodlight mode.
Fenix HM65R Dual Light Sources
The headlamp acts as a flashlight or a spotlight. Both of these uses have separate controls because of the dual switches. You can choose from different output levels.
The spotlight provides four output levels and 1000 lumens maximum brightness level. It gives a maximum beam distance of 163 meters.
The floodlight has three output levels and a maximum brightness of 400 lumens. It provides the needed illumination for camping, hiking, and other outdoor adventures.

HM65R Headband Assembly
The headband comes factory assembled. Attach it to the headlamp by slipping the band down below the slots. After that, hook the top edge below the top slot. Slide the buckle to adjust the headband to your desired length.
Put the top headband to fix the headlamp better. Insert the mount on the headband and fix one of the top sides of the headband to the unit's holder. Fix the other one on top of the headband's mount.
